Understanding the Life of a Female Recovering from Alcohol Addiction Based on a Life History Approach
Hong Mi-Yeon

Abstract
This study is about a life history of a female recovered alcohol addict. The purpose of this study was to analyze the cause of addiction of female alcoholics in the life of female alcoholics and find out the cure method through the analysis of oral data and autobiography.
The study included female alcohol addicts recovering for more than 10 years, and the texts for life history analysis consisted of oral interviews. Based on life-history analysis framework suggested by Mandelbaum(1973), the text was divided into ¡®life domain¡¯, ¡®turning point¡¯, and ¡®adaptation¡¯. The analysis of the data showed that the ¡®life domain¡¯ was divided into four stages: childhood as being abused, the father¡¯s trauma, foreign life, and alcoholism. The ¡®turning point¡¯ was the recognition of being an alcoholic, ¡®reconciliation with oneself¡¯, and ¡®adaptation¡¯ was the process of finding a place to meet a child and recovery.
Based on the results of this study, I proposed a therapeutic intervention for female alcoholics.
